A Little Less Than Expected But It's Great To Have Hockey Again
4-3 OT loss

KEVIN COLUMBO

On this night the Wolf Pack came into the preseason game after previously killing the Cats the night before they  8-3 in Fitchburg, Mass.   Going into South Windsor, the Wolf Pack with their recent success, was on everyone's minds and lips.  As we headed home, I don't think more than two words were uttered by the Pack fans as we entered our cars and headed home for the night.

I don't believe the Pack did anything wrong Saturday night.  They played phenomenal and there defense and goaltending was great.  Unfortunately in the opening min of the OT period something went wrong and the Ice Cats beat one of our best goalies that we have right now.  If you have attended any of the preseason games this year you know what and who I'm talking about, the one and only Jeff Heil.  He was the NY rangers 7th pick in the 1995 draft and he seems to be able to do what it takes on the ice for us to bring the Cup home.

As for last nights action there were a lot of fights on the ice.  I think this carried over from last season, when we knocked the Icecats out of the Calder cup race.  Or possibly from the previous night's beating the cats took.  The Pack didn't look so good in the first ten MINS of play.  Jeff Heil took two great shots from Worchester which he was beat on, and the score was 2-nil.  But no more then 2 MINS later Jeff Brown took a hard shot at their goal and it went through, putting them one point away from a tie.  And tie they did about 3 MINS later Jeff Brown again slaps one into the net and SCORES for Hartford.  The second period went scoreless but not without plenty of action.  With the third period tied we went into over time and lost the game.

Even though fans were disappointed at the lose I think well at least in my opinion they went away happy.  Seeing hockey again this year is great and fans are still talking about last season, which will make this season even better. That's it for now check back on Thursday for a more in depth article on the Wolf Packs game on Wednesday in Cromwell
